As a full-time senior designer, you will provide strategic direction in the continuous refresh of the SCAD visual identity while also maintaining the university's brand and ensuring consistency across all platforms. You will also assist various departments with creative art direction and conceptualization with an emphasis on highlighting SCAD artists and ensuring the visual appearance of SCAD as a brand is cohesive and leading-edge across platforms and throughout each SCAD building, event retail outlet, photo shoot, and other properties and projects.

As part of your work, you will also act as an exhibition and event designer, as well as a photo stylist, which may include functional programming, space planning, specification of furniture, finishes, and equipment, design and QC of custom fabrications, and coordination of artwork, signage, and other specialties. You will work closely and collaboratively with the design group, special projects, events, and exhibitions teams; lead a setup team and department moves, to include the supervision of tradespeople and contractors during implementation; and create and assign work orders as needed for buildings and guest residences to be toured. You will manage creative requests for service (e.g., interior design, photo and event styling, product sourcing, inspired ideation, etc.); create and distribute punch lists for projects, events, and tours; and implement, revise, and maintain the design of all guest residences for all SCAD locations. Among other duties, you will also adhere to all OSHA regulations and safe practices, ensure follow-through on building inspections and punch lists, and serve as a liaison between various departments and contractors.

The successful candidate thrives as an individual and team contributor and demonstrates exceptional organization and time- and project-management skills. The candidate should be self-directed, able to handle multiple complex projects and deadlines with ease, and is comfortable in high-energy environments. Spectacular interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in design, architecture, or a closely related discipline
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Sketchup, Revit, or other similar design applications
  • Minimum of 10 years of related professional experience OR combination of education/training and experience

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in design, architecture, or a closely related discipline

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:

  • Valid driver's license
  • Acceptance as a SCAD-authorized driver

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
