As the shipping specialist, you will coordinate the packaging, labeling, and documentation of products for transport and liaise with carriers and logistics providers to facilitate smooth shipping processes. You will play a crucial role in maintaining inventory accuracy, meeting delivery deadlines, and providing excellent customer service. In this position you will be responsible for properly and securely labeling and packing items for shipment, ensuring compliance with shipping regulations and guidelines, and preparing shipping documents. Responsibilities include ensuring all paperwork is completed accurately in compliance with relevant international and domestic shipping regulations; maintaining accurate records of inventory levels and locations; coordinating with warehouse personnel to ensure products are readily available for shipping; and liaising with carriers, freight forwarders, and logistics providers to arrange transportation and communicate shipping details.

In the role of shipping specialist, you will be expected to perform quality checks on outgoing shipments, report any discrepancies or damages to the appropriate parties, monitor shipment schedules and coordinate with transportation providers to ensure timely deliveries, and address any issues or delays in the shipping process promptly. It is crucial to the position that you stay informed about shipping regulations, import/export laws, and customs requirements and ensure compliance with all applicable rules and regulations to prevent delays and penalties. You must be able to provide excellent customer service and respond to concerns, resolving any issues in a timely and professional manner. Additionally, you will explore cost-effective shipping options and negotiate rates, look for opportunities to optimize shipping processes, and adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a secure working environment.

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in logistics or supply chain management is a plus
  • Proven experience in a shipping or logistics role
  • Familiarity with shipping software and systems and knowledge of shipping regulations and customs procedures
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent attention to detail

Travel required:

  • Less than 10%

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
