Posting Text: SCAD seeks a shop monitor to support the SCAD School of Fashion and studio manger to maintain the safety, functionality and cleanliness of the Jewelry Studio equipment and environment. Shop Monitors provide support to the School of Fashion’s facilities and StudioManager. They oversee the distribution and collection of tools, enforce safe workpractices, maintain a clean work environment, conduct sales transactions of materials, complete task lists, and assist the manager with various shop projects. They also assist students with the safe and correct operation of equipment and ensure students follow proper cleaning procedures. Monitors help enforce all shop policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications: Must be familiar with jewelry studio equipment, hand tools, fabrication techniques, applicable computer programs, and shop safety.
Preferred Qualifications: -Maintain the safety, functionality and cleanliness of the Jewelry Studio equipment and environment.-Communicate and assist students with safe and proper use of all jewelry equipment and processes at all times.-Enforce and follow all jewelry studio policies and procedures, acting as a benchmark example for students and student monitors to follow.-Ensure proper tool check out/in via WebCheckOut system and maintain an organized tool room.-Change or refresh acetylene tanks, pickle, tumblers/polishers, and other consumables as needed-Routinely check classrooms for proper safety protocol and record accurate room counts at designated times.-Ensure all ·burnout and casting forms are filled out properly-load and fire burnout kilns accordingly.
Certificates, licenses and registrations: -Valid Driver's License
Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
