As a shop technician, you will maintain the safety, functionality, and cleanliness of shop equipment and facilities while assisting students with safe machine operation. You will enforce shop policies and procedures at all times, ensuring that safety measures are being met; any required data, including date inventories and safety or equipment concerns, are to be provided to the shop manager. In this role, you will also oversee daily assignments, assist and enforce the proper use of WebCheckout, and proactively identify solutions to improve shop functionality. As needed, you will participate in university special projects, attend all college sponsored safety and security trainings, and provide backup operations support during times of high demand.

The successful candidate maintains a positive, cooperative, and productive work environment by keeping open communication and fostering teamwork. The candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and maintains cleanliness at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • High school diploma
  • Advanced working knowledge of woodworking equipment, processes, and techniques
  • Basic computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Adobe Illustrator proficiency
  • Must be available to work flexible hours, including nights or weekends at times of high demand

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree
  • Knowledge of metal and plastics fabrication, basic machine maintenance, and mechanical skills

Certificates, licenses, and registrations: Valid driver’s license

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
