In this role, you will assist with the safety and operations of the model shop and lab equipment, including scale models, 3D printers, and the laser-cutting lab. You will conduct safety, workshops, and tours for the shop and lab, as well as explain the lab’s capabilities and processes. Among other duties, you will also interact with students and faculty, provide clear directions, and assist with project implementation.
The successful candidate has a keen eye for detail, organization, and cleanliness. The ability to initiate, establish and foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative and productive work environment is essential. Painting and finishing skills are preferred.
Position Summary: SCAD seeks a full-time shop technician for physical resources in historic Savannah, Ga.
Minimum Qualifications: A high school diploma is required.
• Working knowledge of woodworking equipment, processes, and techniques is required.
• Ability to initiate, establish, and foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative and productive work environment.
• Cleanliness, attention to detail, and organization skills required.
Preferred Qualifications: • Painting and finishing skills.
• Knowledge of laser cutting and 3D printing.
• Basic machine maintenance and mechanical knowledge
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree
Certificates, licenses and registrations:
Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
