      As a student success adviser, you will cultivate relationships with 400–500 SCAD students early in their academic journeys to provide quality educational experiences and services. You will support a caseload of incoming students assigned by major through orientation and as they prepare for professional careers by fostering a positive environment. You will monitor student enrollment and course progress and reach out to students identified through an early-alert system. You will also maintain in-depth knowledge of assigned academic programs to assist with major and minor selection. Among other duties, you will develop training programs for degree audit software, MySCAD, and web registration. Additionally, you will assist students with course registration, review course selections, help with forms, and manage web requests for registration overrides and curriculum variances. Similarly, you will provide guidance on academic and university policies to help students complete transactions.

      In this role, you will coordinate services with admission, the bursar's office, student involvement, the office for career and alumni success, student support services offices, and academic services to develop communications and programs that enhance student retention. Responsibilities will include participation in summer programming to engage with new students and parents before enrollment, documentation of student contact in Salesforce, and assistance with curriculum review and catalog proofing. Among other duties, you will regularly communicate with department chairs and faculty about curriculum, course needs, academic policies, and academic advising procedures. You will provide support to other offices as needed.   

      The ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. They can also meet deadlines and excel as an independent contributor and as part of a team. The candidate must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. 

      Minimum requirements:  

      • Bachelor’s degree 

      Preferred requirements:  

      • Masters’s degree 
      • Experience in advising, financial aid, or counseling in higher education 
      • Microsoft Office Suite and Banner proficiency

      Travel required:  

      • Less than 10% 

      Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
