As a jewelry studio technician, you will oversee the safety, functionality, and cleanliness of studio equipment and spaces, retaining and enforcing all shop policies and procedures. You will also assist students as needed with the safe and correct operation of shop equipment, fabrication and file issues, and offer hands-on support. Among other duties, you will check tools in and out of the tool room, monitor the shop and tool room during open shop hours, maintain the shop user database, and assist during class sessions as required.

The successful candidate has excellent organizational and computer skills, along with comprehensive knowledge of shop tools and techniques, such as lost wax casting, acetylene torches, fabrication techniques, soldering, and stone setting.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3-4 years’ experience
  • Experience in the jewelry field as a bench jeweler or technician
  • Proficiency in Rhino, Matrix, zBrush, Illustrator, Photoshop, and similar modeling/graphics software

Preferred qualifications:

  • Specialization in 3D printing and lost wax casting processes

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
