As a part-time visitation and operations coordinator, you will oversee weekend museum operations, including opening and closing procedures and addressing visitor and staff needs. You will coordinate immediate housekeeping and security requirements and manage museum ticketing, admissions, and retail operating systems. Among other duties, you will compile end-of-day admission and POS reports, monitor museum conditions such as temperature, humidity, and cleanliness, and provide support for occasional programming and special events. Responsibilities include oversight of docent staff, including scheduling shifts and frequent museum checks throughout the day to ensure proper docent placement and adherence to best practices.

In this role, you will demonstrate stellar customer service and guest engagement skills to the student staff. You will supervise buildings, security, and the student team, and promote a welcoming environment for visitors. Additionally, you will ensure visitors receive museum information upon entry and that admission and membership processes are properly followed.  

The ideal candidate has a strong interest in contemporary art and museum studies. They are eager to learn and follow museum guidelines and are comfortable supervising groups. The candidate is highly motivated, positive, flexible, and proactive. They are also willing to learn about the exhibitions and artists to provide visitors with a stellar experience. Confidence to succeed in a public-facing role and team environment is essential.

Minimum qualifications:     
• Bachelor's degree in art, design, or a related field
• Previous museum experience
• Ability to stand for extended periods at a time
• Ability to work weekends

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
