SCAD seeks an XR Studio Technician to join a team of creative professionals at the Savannah campus to be part of a new state-of-the-art virtual production facility.

Position Summary: In this role, you will be responsible for the management, setup, operation, maintenance, and repair of all production equipment used in the XR stage. You will oversee and conduct events, workshops, classes, and tours of the building and work closely with the engineering manager and staff to ensure equipment is maintained according to specifications. You will collaborate with clients to set up the stage according to their needs, operate and configure LED panels and processors, and use Unreal Engine to upload and scale content to the LED performance stage. You will also operate a 15-foot reach camera jib, create proper scene lighting, and document signal flow and system operations. As an XR studio technician, you will perform periodic maintenance of the system; troubleshoot, correct, and complete repairs in-house whenever possible; and manage media servers to ensure that content is integrated correctly for each project.
The successful candidate possesses a keen understanding of game engines (i.e., Unreal Engine) and has demonstrated, hands-on experience designing immersive experiences. The candidate must also be proficient with XR technology and professional studio equipment, including RED digital cameras and Jimmy Jib camera cranes.

Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in a digital media field.
• 5 years of experience in film/TV, entertainment, gaming or related industry.
• Experience with XR technology and professional studio equipment including RED Digital cameras and Jimmy Jib camera cranes.
• Hands-on working experience and strong understanding of game engines such as Unreal Engine.
• Experience working and designing immersive experiences.

Certificates, licenses and registrations:

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
