You will also implement standardized project management methodologies across the department and lead organizational change efforts required when shifting to AI-driven or automated workflows.

SCAD Savannah seeks a highly skilled shop technician to ensure safe and reliable access to industry-standard tools and equipment as well as to help students understand and use these tools safely and effectively.

Drywall Technician

As the drywall technician, you will install drywall on walls and ceilings and secure drywall panels to the building's interior framework. You will prepare panels for painting by taping or finishing joints, smooth out imperfections, and work with ceiling tile installers to build walls. Among other duties, you will read blueprints and designs; prepare panels by sawing, drilling, or cutting holes for electrical outlets, air conditioning units, and plumbing; and use a lift to position ceiling panels. You will also measure, cut, fit, and secure drywall panels and press paper tape into compound. After pressing the paper, you will apply multiple coats of compound, smooth away excess material, and sand the surfaces between coats. Additionally, you will fill joints between panels and cover nail and screw holes with spackle using a trowel.

Support Crew Member

As a support crew member, you will load, unload, and transport furniture, office equipment, boxed supplies, and machinery, ensuring the safe handling of materials through protective padding, security measures, and load balancing. You will lift, move, unpack, and assemble furniture and fixtures, and ensure their precise placement as directed by the design group. Among other duties, you will read work orders and layouts, set up and break down events as outlined in diagrams, and complete assigned work orders neatly. You will also document issues in the work order system for resolution.
